Frei im Sinne von Freiheit
Die Free Software Foundation Europe (FSFE) ist eine nicht
gewinnorientierte und in einigen Staaten als gemeinnützig anerkannte
Nichtregierungsorganisation, die
für Freie Software
eintritt. Für die Sicherung einer gleichen und gerechten Teilhabe aller
an der Informationsgesellschaft ist es entscheidend, dass jeder die
Freiheiten hat, Software zu benutzen, zu studieren, weiterzugeben und zu
verändern. Ziel der FSFE ist es, durch ihre Aktivitäten das Verständnis
und die Unterstützung für Freier Software in der Öffentlichkeit, Politik
und Gesetzgebung maßgeblich zu verbessern. Der Einsatz und die
Entwicklung von Technologien, die ihren Nutzern diese Freiheiten
gewähren, wie zum Beispiel das GNU/Linux Betriebssystem, wird von der
FSFE gefördert und unterstützt.
Die Arbeit der FSFE wird durch die Beiträge vieler Einzelner ermöglicht,
insbesondere durch das Fellowship der
FSFE. Wenn auch Sie etwas zum großen Ganzen der FSFE beitragen
wollen, können Sie jetzt
beitreten und andere dazu zu ermutigen, das auch zu tun.

Currently serving as project manager for the Icelandic Innovation Center, Smári works on digital fabrication and peer-to-peer education, while spending his spare time breaking the fundamental assumptions of how we organise society. May has been an hot month for us. Not only because the first real sunbeams
start showing up all-over Europe, but mainly because during the whole month
we run our first-ever voting process to elect a Fellow representative to FSFE
General Assembly (GA). Moreover, we published our call for applications as
coordinator and staff positions in our legal department, and our Austrian
team concluded its challenging and satisfying tour across the whole Austria,
by participating to "Linuxwochen Eisenstadt".

FSFE booth at RMLL Nantes/F

The 10th RMLL, Rencontre Mondial de Logiciel Libre (LSM, Libre Software
Meeting) is taking place at Nantes. Rainer Kersten will organise a FSFE
booth there.
RMLL is the most important Free Software event at France. This year,
GNU/Linux User Group Nantes is expecting some 5000 visitors at the
University of Nantes.
Whoever would like to come and help, is highly welcome. Please contact

Summit) findet vom 13. bis zum 15. November statt und wird
von Fellows der FSFE mitorganisiert. Die FSCONS ist keine
einfache Konferenz, sondern vielmehr ein Treffpunkt für
gesellschaftlichen Wandel. Dabei liegt der Schwerpunkt
auf Freier Software und der Frage, wie auf ihren Prinzipien
eine freie Gesellschaft aufgebaut werden kann. Bitte
